'Early Closing for South Shields Post Offices?'

David Miliband MP is fighting plans to close three post offices in his South Shields constituency.

The Post Office has announced shock plans to close The Bents Post Office, the Chichester Post Office, and the Westoe Post Office, all of which offer an invaluable service to residents.

David Miliband MP has launched a petition to save the Post Offices, which he has placed at all three sites.

David Miliband said "These Post Offices provide an essential resource for the elderly and vulnerable in South Shields, who rely on them for vital pension payments. I am concerned at the impact these proposed closures would have on pensioners and other vulnerable groups in my Constituency. "

"I would like to see these proposals reviewed, with a view to keeping all three Post Offices open."
