St. Aidan's School

David Miliband MP was today the guest of honour at a celebration at St Aidan's RC School in Sunderland.

Mr Miliband joined other guests including the Director of Education, school Govenors, member of the local community and staff and pupils in celebrating St Aidan's designation as a Specialist Language College.

Mr Miliband also helped pupils to take part in a video-linked lesson with pupils at schools in France and Spain, as part of St Aidan's 'international curriculum'.

David Miliband said "The staff and pupils of St Aidan's school should be proud of their achievement in gaining designation as a Specialist language College.

Being able to communicate in another language is an important skill, which will stand these young people in good stead. I wish them and the school every success for the future."

David Miliband said "I am delighted that St Aidan's have achieved special status. I feel this a tribute to the hard work of teachers, govenors and pupils.

Specialist status creates an excellent resource for both pupils and the wider community.

I look forward to seeing the continued gains of this achievement."
